Explore Ephrata Cloister’s Revolutionary War Connections!



Expanded Site Tours – Saturday, July 12 at 10:00 AM & 2:00 PM

Discover the fascinating history of Ephrata Cloister during the Revolutionary War in this special edition of our Expanded Site Tours. Offered at two times; 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. These guided experiences provide a deeper look at how the community played a role in the nation’s fight for independence.

Each 60- to 90-minute tour begins at the Visitor Center and breaks into small groups to explore three themed stations:

  • Ephrata Cloister as a Military Hospital (Winter 1777–1778)

  • Myths and Legends of the Revolution at Ephrata

  • Behind-the-Scenes Access to Our Collections Storage, showcasing rarely seen Revolutionary War–era artifacts

Tours include extended walking and uphill paths and are held rain or shine. Space is limited to 40 participants per tour. Advance registration required: Call 717-733-6600 or visit the Visitor Center at 632 West Main Street, Ephrata, PA 17522.

Tickets: $12 general admission | $2 for Ephrata Cloister Associates members
