Candlelight Open House

Date(s): 11/25/2023
Time: 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Discover the beauty of this fascinating early community in a new light – candlelight! Tour the historic buildings by candlelight and visit with local craftspeople as they share their stories and wares. Joining us that evening will be Elva Hurst, chalk pastel artist and owner of Barnyard Art Studio; Matt Vardjan, owner of PA German Folk Art Papers, who will demonstrate how to make paper stars; Jim King, faux graining artist and co-author of the book False Graining Techniques; and Paul Luttrell, wood turner and creator of exquisite, handcrafted bowls.  All will have items available for purchase. You can also make your own paper gift box, just the right size for tiny treats. This is an excellent opportunity to shop for unique and beautifully crafted Christmas gifts in our Museum Store.

The Ephrata Cloister Chorus will perform throughout the evening in the 1741 Saal, with guest musicians Amanda Wells and Randy Kochel (from the Rizzetta’s Tones) performing Celtic airs on hammer dulcimer and guitar.  All of the historic buildings will be open, and costumed guides and historic demonstrators will welcome you to the place where Ephrata began nearly 300 years ago.

Enjoy light refreshments in the Visitor Center. Hot dogs, hot chocolate, and hot coffee will be available for purchase in the parking lot.

Tickets are $8/person ages 5 and up and can be purchased at the door on the night of the program.  Or – skip the line and purchase your tickets online at: https://bit.ly/472k3nw
