Ephrata Music

Date(s): 06/12/2022
Time: 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Join Martin Hinkley, Choral Director, and Becky Degan, Choral Accompanist, as they lead a short discussion of Ephrata’s musical history. Discover the unique approach that Conrad Beissel, Ephrata’s founder, took to composing music. Using his rules for composition the members of Ephrata created over one-thousand original pieces of choral music, including works by the first documented female composers in the United States.

This program will be held in the Saal, the 1741 Meetinghouse, following the conclusion of the guided tours starting at 12:30 and 1:30. If you wish to join only the music talks they will begin about a hour after the start of the tours.  The short music programs are included with regular admission to the historic site.
