Winter History Class

Date(s): 02/08/2024
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Ephrata Cloister’s Winter History Class will run Thursday mornings from February 1 through March 21.  The program will start at 9:00, and we will take a break about 10:15. Class will resume at 10:45 and continue until noon.

There will be some familiar faces as well as some new faces presenting this year.  Mark Louden from the University of Wisconsin will be returning this year, as will Edsel Burdge, Jeff Bach and David Fuchs.  Rosalind Beiler from the University of Florida and one of her students will introduce us to their discoveries about William Penn’s Gardener at Pennsbury Manor.  We’ll investigate Fraktur and Theorem Painting, and ink making.  A complete syllabus will be provided as soon as we have all the details finalized.

As we have for the past several years the program will be offered with an online option using Zoom.  This gives you an option of attending in-person or in the comfort of your own home.  Should we get any snow, and depending on how much, instead of canceling History Class, class will be held via Zoom only. A link will be sent each week to everyone who is registered.  If the speaker permits us to, we will record the program. The recordings will be available on request until April 7.

Whether you plan to attend in-person or remotely, the tuition for the program is $50 per person for members of the Ephrata Cloister Associates, and $60 per person for those not yet members. Please note that we are requesting remote learners to pay per person, not per computer link. Each tuition is important as it helps to offset the speaker honorariums.

Registration can be done in-person or by mail by completing this REGISTRATION FORM.
