Charter Day, the day of free admission held in mid-March, is postponed for 2022. Continuing concern for public safety during the COVID pandemic has necessitated this action.
A free admission day has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 24.
Historic Ephrata Cloister is open for visitors Friday and Saturday, 10:00 to 4:00, and Sunday, noon to 4:00. School tours and group tours can be scheduled by appointment by calling or emailing. The site participates in the Lancaster County Library Pass program and Museums for All, providing reduced admission for ETB card holders. Check out our full hours and admissions by clicking here.
The celebration of Charter Day began in 1981 to observe Pennsylvania’s 300th birthday. This day of free admission welcomes 800 or more visitors to the historic site to explore the history of the place where Ephrata began. The possibility for a large crowd and the small spaces inside the historic buildings have necessitated the postponement of Charter Day for 2022 to provide public safety.
